Martha Creek Field is the most historic of the four fields at the former Wind River Nursery. The beautiful open views of Bunker Hill and the surrounding ridges are a crucial piece of the Wind River character. In order to maintain this open feel, we are exploring the economic viability of creating a native plant center that will generate income while connecting to the historic use of the field. Our current lease with Skamania County includes 2.7 acres of this 90-acre field, which we will use to begin testing ideas that could eventually be extended to the entire field. Although the remainder of the field is not included in our current lease, we are working on a conceptual plan for the entire space. Landscape architecture students from Washington State University provided some initial ideas in the fall of 2021. We will continue to develop these ideas as part of our overall site planning.
